Why Dan Grows.

Growing Health

Microgreens and sprouts are diverse in nutrient density, containing multiple vitamins, proteins, amino acids, and trace elements. Growing healthy food is our primary focus. The ingredients used to grow your food, are your food.

100% Natural

The seeds we use are all untreated. Most are organically grown and non GMO (lettuce varieties are the only seeds not from organic stock). No pesticides or sprays are required. Use organic soils for best results.

Fresh food for you and your family

Freshness is also very important. Most harvested Sprouts, Baby and Microgreens will last two weeks in your fridge!

What are Sprouts, Microgreens and Baby greens?

SPROUTS

Sprouts are the first stage of plant growth, where the young plant emerges from the seed. We call this the sprout. Sprouts have two parts, Roots and Shoots (Roots grow down into soil, Shoots grow above soil). When we grow sprouts for food, it is done hydroponically. This is most commonly done in a glass jar with a sprouting lid. Many seeds are soaked and drained twice daily and kept in a dark cupboard for the duration of the growing process. Common varieties sprouted include; alfalfa, broccoli, mung, and garlic chive to name a few. Most types are ready for harvest in 3 to 5 days

MICROGREENS

Microgreens are considered the second stage of growth. As a Microgreen, vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, and leafy greens, are usually harvested after one to three weeks from planting. Typically after the first set of true leaves appear. They are sometimes referred to as ''Shoots''.  Microgreens seeds are planted in mass, grown in trays using grow mediums like; Peat moss, Coco coir, Hydroponics or Grow mats. Some form of light is required for this process (natural, or artificial).

BABY GREENS

Baby greens and herbs are grown slightly longer, usually 21 days or more (not to maturity). Crops grown this way will have larger leaves and yields compared to Micro's. Seeds will be planted with less density as well. This style of growing is best suited for Herbs and Lettuce.
